What is an Application Reconsideration?
A reconsideration request is a formal appeal to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or a visa officer, asking them to review their decision on your application. This is only recommended when:
- You believe the officer made a clear error, or
- You provided all necessary documents, but they were overlooked or misunderstood.
This is not a re-application—it’s a legal way to ask for a second review of the original decision without starting over.
When Should You Request a Reconsideration?
You may consider it if:
- You received a refusal letter that seems unfair or inconsistent
- Your application was refused due to misinterpretation or clerical errors
- Your supporting documents were ignored or misread
- You were refused without being given a chance to respond to concerns

Yes, in many cases reapplying is better than requesting reconsideration. We’ll advise you on which option is best based on your case.
What are GCMS notes, and why do I need them?
Yes! A job offer is not mandatory to qualify for Express Entry. However, having a valid job offer can boost your CRS score significantly and increase your chances of receiving an ITA.
How long does it take to get a decision on a reconsideration request?
If you completed your education outside Canada, you’ll need an ECA to prove that your education is equal to a Canadian credential. It’s a required document for the Federal Skilled Worker Program and helps in boosting your CRS score.
